Who We Are...

Charter
Girl Scouts, Prairie Hills Council of Nebraska, Inc. is chartered by Girl Scouts of the USA to extend membership opportunities to all girls ages 5-17 in 19 counties of northeast Nebraska.

Girl Scout Purpose
The purpose of Girl Scouts is inspiring girls with the highest ideals of character, conduct, patriotism and service so that they may become happy and resourceful citizens.

Mission Statement
From their first encounter with Girl Scouts, girls enjoy the fun, friendship and power of girls together. In partnership with caring, committed adults, girls develop the strength, confidence, motivation, leadership, and skills to succeed for a lifetime. Girls embrace the values of the Girl Scout Promise and Law as touchstones for life decisions. They are changing the world. Once a Girl Scout, always a Girl Scout.

The Girl Scout Law

I will do my best to be honest and fair; friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, and responsible for what I say and do, and to respect myself and others, respect authority, use resources wisely, make the world a better place and be a sister to every Girl Scout.

Vision Statement
We strive to be experts on girl issues and to be their best advocates. We strive to have what it takes to bring Girl Scouting to every girl in northeast Nebraska who chooses to belong. We are a forward thinking and well managed organization, taking the risks necessary to fulfill the Girl Scout purpose. We are not a club, we are a movement.

The Girl Scout Promise

On my honor, I will try; to serve God and my country, to help people at all times, and to live by the Girl Scout Law.

Structure
An elected volunteer board of directors determines policy, establishes goals and approves budgets according to a comprehensive corporate planning system. This provides the focus and action for the professional staff and operational volunteers.

Membership
Prairie Hills jurisdiction encompasses rural farms and livestock operations, small towns supported by business and industry, several American Indian reservations and a number of growing ethnic populations. Every girl is welcome in the Girl Scout Movement.
